Euphony Reunion

This picture is totally blurry. Boo self timers and my own idiocy.
Anyway, I loved seeing these guys again. These are some of my old students from Euphony: the literary magazine I used to advise at Alta High School. Hanging out with this crowd made me really miss so much about teaching.
I know it sounds lame, but I'm just so proud of how great these former "kids" are doing. One already has her Associates, one is at BYU, one at the U, and two at SUU--all great students and all great people.

Salmon Supper

The Salmon Supper is one of the great holidays of the year in the Lee family. This was my first year, but it definitely won't be my last.

Pre-salmon at Laurel's house.
My dad playing with Kaiya and Jake.
I love that smirk :)
Very long lines at the Salmon Supper... but totally worth the wait.
Brad Walker: Salmon Supper Extraordinaire

Scotty and Matty

Scott and Megan
Jason and Laurel

Oh--the beauty of it all!
Brad was hilarious. He kept walking up to the front to see if he knew people working the salmon lines. He was determined to get the best piece of salmon possible.

Even the kiddos loved the feast.

The Party's Over

John Hughes died yesterday of a heart attack.
I'll admit it... part of my Pop-Culture world just fell apart.
Sorry Michael Jackson,
but this man was brilliant.

Somewhere, Tomorrow

I don't know if you know this... but Sarah Jessica Parker had a career pre Sex and the City. I know, I know it is a little hard to imagine SJP as anyone other than Carrie Bradshaw, but there it is. She was all over the eighties: Square Pegs, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Footloose and Somewhere, Tomorrow.

Oh? You don't know Somewhere Tomorrow? Well, don't feel bad; neither did I until tonight... even though I purchased said DVD for a dollar on a late-night Wal Mart trip years ago. This movie is awful-- like, so awful it's awesome. {Otherwise, why blog about it?}

Seriously, what's not love about a movie where a girl meets a boy who just crashed in a plane accident, gets thrown from a horse, meets boy again but he's dead now {Yeah-- I'm serious}, thinks dead boy is alive then finds out he's really a ghost whom she believes has been sent by her dead father to help get rid of her mother's boyfriend, discovers that really, mom just needs to move on and that maybe she should too, then discovers that by her self-discovery and coming to terms with her father's death that now her new dead-ghost boyfriend has to leave {you know, because he's fulfilled his mission or whatever}, but then-- {in the worst film transition ever} meets up with dead boyfriend in heaven, where she is told that she isn't done living... sooooo... she wakes up in the hospital with a new-found respect for life, and for no reason at all wanders down to the old-folks wing and sings them a horrifying song in her hospital gown, where in the greatest movie twist of all, formally dead-ghost boyfriend is wheeled in and they meet for the first time because um... I guess it was all a dream from when she was thrown from the horse in the beginning.
Like I said: Awesome.

Oh and there's a great scene where she and dead boyfriend are engaging in some tom-foolery while he is wearing a towel {nothing dirty--just playin' and flirtin'} and her mom walks in. Well, of course he has to drop the towel because c'mon--he's a ghost and mom can't see him but would probably be suspicious of a towel walking around her daughter's room by itself. Needless to say, hilariousness ensues and poor Sarah Jessica gets the giggles and confuses mother all the more.

Classic cinema. Genius dialogue. Totally worth the dollar spent and the 90 minutes I'll never get back.
{Oh Janey, where have you been?}

There are just a few more things I'd love to hear myself say...

Egomaniac Tag:

My friend Tammy tagged me ... she joked that she can't resist talking about herself... well, me too.
.....

What is your current obsession? Jen's wedding. Mostly the centerpieces.

What do you hate the most that everybody else seems to love? Reality TV.

What are you wearing today? Right now: still in my green sweatpants and guitar hero t-shirt. I plan on being cuter, just haven't gotten around to it yet. {It's still before noon--c'mon!}

What's for dinner? Leftovers... so either "Thai red chicken" or the sausage pasta pepperoncini thingy from the other night.

What would you eat for your last meal? Does Diet Coke count?

What's the last thing you bought? Pretty beads for me and green ribbon for Jen's wedding.

What are you listening to right now? Sleeping baby and "Las Vegas" on TV.

What do you think of the person that tagged you? I've known Tammy since the 8th grade. We were fast friends and even though we went to different high schools we stayed friends. Years later, we ended up working in cosmetics together. She is responsible for my obsession for Bridget Jones and is the reason I started seeing rated R movies. Now that I'm all grown up, we are blogging buddies thanks to Facebook. Wow 'eh? I'm pretty sure that Tammy and I are meant to be friends for life... I couldn't be happier about it. I just wish we were better at actually hanging out.

If you could have a house, fully paid for, and totally furnished anywhere in the world, where would it be? On a beach somewhere or an apartment in NYC.

What is one of your hobbies? Jewelry.

What is one way you don't want to die? Fire.

What are 3 "guilty pleasures" you indulge in? Diet Coke. Gossip Girl. Shopping--in all forms. Even grocery shopping can sometimes give me a high.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe? My "skinny jeans" I bought for my 10-year reunion that I can now fit into again. Halle-freakin-lujah!

What is your dream job? Novelist.

Describe your personal style. I'd say classic, but I'm pretty sure I'm just boring. I think I used to have more "style". Sad.

What are you going to do after this? Shower. :) Then, hit up Wal-Mart on my way to Ang's for some girl-time and box-folding. {The Chocolate is doing a wedding this weekend!}

What is your favorite "happy hour" at Sonic? Lately the blue coconut cream slush.

What inspires you? Everything.

Who was the last person you kissed? Blaine this morning. Jake before his nap.

What are you currently reading? About a Boy.

What delighted you most today? A phone call from my Mother-In-Law.

By what criteria do you judge a person? If they are "real", positive, and their sense of humor.

What is the stupidest movie ever made? So many to choose from... but one of my favorite memories was seeing Stealth with my friend Luke. We laughed our butts off.

What was the last really great movie you saw? There's been some great movies {a lot of which I haven't seen yet... i.e. Away We Go} But, I absolutely LOVED 3:10 to Yuma. It's still the greatest movie I've seen in a very long time.

I tag everyone... You're it!

Cue Music because The Hills Are Alive...

So on the 24th, the Lee clan headed for the mountains--Snowbird to be precise. We rode the tram {still just as awesome as it was when we were kids}, had a picnic {KFC counts, right?}, and basked in the hippy gloriousness that is the "Snowbird scene". I love the mountains... seriously, I don't know why I don't take better advantage of where I live.
It was a great time.
 Self portrait on the way up the canyon.
{With the windows down... is there any other way to drive up the canyon when it's not snowing?}
Isabel on the tram.
Pretty girl.
Nervous Michelle and Kaiya.
{Michelle didn't care much for the ride to the top.}
My boys.
*sigh*
...
...
Look!! There's Maria!

Ski stuff.
More ski stuff.

There's that handsome kid. He's always in all my pictures.

"Not Quite Corn"?
Playing with Daddy.
Here we are.

Isabel and Laurel.
Handsome guys.
The girls.
Megan and me. I love this girl!
She's very shy about the paparazzi.
Thanks Scotty.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

We had so much fun renting the Franklin Covey Bees suite. Thanks to all who came and basked in the perfect summer night with us. We loved it!
