Smart Guy

The other day I asked Jake where his band-aid was... he said "band-aid!", pointed at his head, then ran into his room, opened up the top drawer of the changing table, got on his tip-toes, found the Neosprin, and brought it back to me.
I was floored. Apparently, he's smart enough to realize that his band-aid and the "medicine" are connected.

Tonight, Blaine and I were putting Jake to bed. Lately, we like to let him choose his bedtime book. His favorite is an ABC book that he always picks. Jake had his hand on the ABC binding, and Blaine said (mostly to himself), "Um, how about "Barnyard Dance, buddy?" (as it was next in line on the bookshelf). Jake took his hand off the ABC favorite, grabbed Barnyard Dance, and brought to his daddy, smiling.
We couldn't believe it. (We read the ABC book after just for Jakey.)

Call me biased, but I'm pretty sure I've got the smartest kid ever.

  1. Yes you do! I remember Devyn getting me the right videos from our video bookcase. (books as well) Even though they are small, they associate the word groupings to word recognition...so, yes, they are reading! Be prepared for one smart cookie!!! I wouldn't be surprised with you two as parents! Love that kid and you, too!

  2. What a little smarty!! It's crazy how fast they pick up on stuff, even when you think they have no clue what's going on.

  7. Even though I don't speak a foreign language, I hear that it is somewhat the same. You hear and understand language faster than you learn to speak it. At any rate, I have always said that Jake is pure genius.
