Operation: Scott and Megan

My sister, Michelle said all this better on her blog than I can, but I still want to plug this event here.

My brother, Scott and his wife, Megan are probably the greatest people around. Those of you who know them (or me) know a little about what kind of infertility hell they've been though these last few years. We all know they'd be wonderful parents, and I really feel like they will be someday...

They've been thrown quite a few curve balls over the years, but they are such a great team, such amazing friends, and the best aunt and uncle. Needless to say, they deserve a little break. It's like Michelle said, "These last couple months have been particularly hard, and as we've come together as family and friends, it boils down to this: we can't guarantee that Megan and Scott will get pregnant, but we can guarantee that they'll be able to pay their medical bills."

Anyway, if you can make it, please come support them this Saturday. I'll be there trying to get what's left of a summer tan and drinking Diet Cokes. It will be fun and it's for a great cause. It's this Saturday, the 29th. Check it out. We'd love to have you.

Zooriffic

The day after Doug and Jen's big day, the Carters (plus Shad and Amy) hit Moochie's {AMAZING philly sandwich!} and Hogle Zoo for a couple hours. It was great.
 Jake loved the merry-go-round.

This just reminds me of being a kid.
What a handsome boy!
Amy--this is for you... come back soon.
We'll make cookies and pie. {And by "we", I mean "me".}
This turned out fuzzy, but I think I kinda like it.
Well, I like smooching my boy, anyway.
Creepy.

Relaxin' Jackson.

Baby animals = adorable.
Buddies.

"It's like the End of an Era... I know!"

Dutch are Karen Robinson are leaving West Jordan.
They have been family friends my whole life and it's so strange to think that they won't be local anymore.
After my parents moved over ten years ago, the Robinsons took me in. {I actually moved in with them for a summer.} I can't begin to count the hours I've spent at their kitchen counter eating Karen's amazing cookies, drinking coke, and talking and laughing with the family. Their home has been my "home away from home" for years.
 I wish this picture wasn't so blurry but here they are: Karen and Dutch.
{And Dee's baby girl, Lauren.}
The girls.
Chels and me. I love this girl!

Nice Day for a White Wedding

Well, Markelle and Laurel beat me to the whole blogging-the-wedding thing, but here's my contribution:
We had a great time at Doug and Jen's wedding last week. Everything was beautiful and they are living it up as I type in the Western Caribbean {so jealous}.
Laurel and I had so much fun doing the flowers, and despite my mini-throw-down with the florist, we can't wait to do it again. {Anyone? Anyone?}

To see more {and better} pictures of the flowers {as I have absolutely no pictures of the centerpieces I stressed over for weeks}, please go to
leeleegirls.blogspot.com.
Thanks.

The happy couple...

I love this. Look how happy they are.
I've always loved the JSMB lobby ceiling.

*Awe*

I love this picture... Scotty is the best uncle ever. Jakey loves him.

Isabel--hanging out with her pals, Mia and Ian.

Happy Kaiya. Too bad she wasn't so happy when she caught Jake's flu bug later on. {I tried keeping them separated, I promise!}

Chris and her brother {who flew in from CA}, Bob.
Okay, these are ridiculous {and by ridiculous, I mean hilarious}, but Megan's dress was the exact color as the bridesmaids' dresses, and when we "happened upon" a discarded bridesmaid bouquet, we just couldn't help the photo op.

We may have gotten a little carried away.
Maybe, a little. :)

Smarty-Pants

He's learned to go down the stairs. {Although he still makes me nervous.}

He's learned to take his hippo-walker out by himself and walk around with it. {Although he still needs me to turn him around when he's hit a wall, a bookcase, or major appliance.}

He's learned to feed himself like a pro.{Although he's been doing this for a while--I think he now actually prefers his turkey and veggie bits to Mommy and the spoon.}

He's learned to scream like a banshee dying a painful death when he wants my attention. It's killing me... and I don't know what to do about it. It seriously makes me want to stick my finger in my eye, up into my brain--and swirl it around.
{Although, I guess he is communicating. Smarty-pants.}

Mr. The Snake

Welcome to a plethora of unnecessary pictures of my kid. Come September 2nd, Jake will be one-year-old! You've gotta be kidding me. I can't believe it's almost been a year.
Some of these pictures are a little older, but I still think that they deem bloggage {yeah--it's a word.}
