Re: Disneyland 2010...THE FOOD!

My friend, Tammy's comment on Disneyland reminded me of something Blaine and I have been talking about ever since we got home.
We've realized something about ourselves--as we have grown older, our excitement for Disneyland has changed. We still get excited about the rides (Space Mountain rocks my world!), but we live for the food.
We were talking about all the food and treats that we absolutely have to have while we are there and were a little surprised at our list.

1. Clam Chowder Bread Bowl.
There are a couple places you can get this but the only one I know exactly where is New Orleans Square. This is a must. The real challenge is to eat it correctly and efficiently. If you have too much bread left over, you're doing it wrong.

2. Corn Dog.
There is a stand off Main Street or you can get these in California Adventure. They rock. (Can I get an "AMEN", Chris?)

3. Mint Julep.
This little treasure is nestled by the train near The Haunted Mansion. Thanks to Carl and Sean's obsession, I've become a believer. They are heaven. Mint + lime + maraschino = refreshing bliss.

4. Funnel Cake.
I first had this in California Adventure but we've had them in Magic Kingdom too. It's the best funnel cake I've ever had. (And if I remember right, Jen loves these too.)

5. Goofy's Sourball Candy.
I don't know why I love these but I do. You can get them anywhere... but you don't have to because Steve usually will just bring them to you.

6. Disneyland Coke.
I know, I know... I have issues. But it just tastes better here.

7. Dole Whip.
This fruity frothy treat is in Adventure Land. There's a stand right by the Tiki Room.

8. Churro.
You can get these at any snack stand. They are so soft and chewy and perfect.

9. Stuffed Cream Cheese Pretzel.
Thanks to Markelle, I now know about these babies. You can get them at any pretzel stand. They are pretty much amazing.

10. Popcorn.
This one's for Blaine. He says there is something about Disneyland popcorn. Maybe it's laced with crack or something.

So, I know there are more yummy treats that I'm forgetting... help me out here if you feel the need. I really should add more to my list. We never did get to try out Lara's recommendations for "Tigger Tails" and the white chocolate rice crispy treats in Tomorrow Land. Next time, I guess. :)

Your Nannie and Papa always wanted to stop long enough to drink a Mint Julep when we went to Disneyland! I didn't care too much for them then, but I probably would now. Awesome connection, Alicia!

I didn't care too much for the drinks, not Nannie and Papa. I kinda like them. Still.

I must say I have only been to Disneyland twice in my life--or is it 3? I can't remember much about it, or give you any specificis on food. I'm impressed you are such a conosiuer (sp?) or Disneyland secrets! I would love, love, love to have seen the fireworks! I heart fireworks, but I HATE crowds, so that would have been a tricky decision. You look SOOOOO cute/beautiful/young/adorable in that picture by the C...I love that picture the most! I heart you too!

Really? Guess I should have talked with you before our trip last fall. We packed our own snacks and ate in lines -didn't buy ONE food item. We missed out!!!

I love love love that you dedicated a whole post to the food at Disneyland. I just had to add, the Rancho Del Zocalo in Disneyland Park was yummy and perfect for kids. And if you have girls the best money I spent was Ariel's Grotto. Expensive but yummy and all the princesses came to the table. Totally worth it.

Did you know Disneyland and McDonald's have a special contract with the Coke company to have their own mix of all Coke products. That's why they taste better. A good friend used to work in the corporate offices and told us that. Yum. I think you pretty much named all of them. The churros are pretty f'amazing. I don't know if they are still (it's been a couple years since we've had passes). Oh! I forgot. Have you ever tried the Monte Cristo sandwiches at the little New Orleans restaurant/eatery? Can you say FRIGGIN AMAZING!

The ice cream sundaes at Golden Horseshoe! It's the best ice cream in the park for sure. I also like the fries at the Hungry Bear Cafe. Yum.

Ditto on the Dole Whip and the corn dogs. I always get the apples with the corn dog--then I feel healthy. I also love the Mint Juleps!
