When is March Madness again?

Tonight, while monitoring Jake playing outside on the neighborhood playground, I was talking with our friend/neighbor. He asked me where Blaine served his mission (Connecticut) and when I answered him, he asked me if Blaine was super excited about [their basketball team]. (I used brackets there because I have no idea what team he said. I know it was basketball, but don't know or care enough to try and remember.)

Now, I've always been "on the outs" with sports-- not because I have something to prove, or even have anything "against" sports or sports fans at all (everyone needs a hobby!)-- I just don't care enough to follow them. There's been the rare occasion where I have paid attention to The Jazz (remember the good 'ol Western Championship days?) and I enjoy attending sporting events, but I shamelessly admit that I am there for the ambiance and, more often than not, the food. (I said it.)

I only know who "Jimmer" is thanks to Facebook statuses.
I only know about that other BYU football player getting kicked out thanks to Conan.
Every year, Blaine and I have to ask someone who is in the Superbowl.

I am so happy that I married a dude who doesn't care about sports either. I love that this month is now over and I'm not relieved that I get my husband and the TV back. I mean, I may have to deal with the computer games and Tuesday nights being off limits due to "gaming night", but at least when I'm sans Blaine, I still get to watch the TV. (Thanks, honey!)

Isabel full-on chants "Teach me how to Jimmer. Teach me Teach me how to Jimmer."

It's actually kind of adorable.

There. I said it.

I am so glad that we are all different. i loved the night I explained to you and Blaine who jerry Sloan was when he retired. It works perfect for me, cause I can pretend to actually know a little about my hobby...works out fabulously! Now when it comes to gaming and computers...i didn't even understand the community episode on dungeons and dragons! Hello can you say I am so backwards when it comes to stuff like that! I like that Blaine guy and you! And i don't care what you like...you produce adorable children! xo

We truly are two peas in a pod. I am so with you on just about everything you said. Only difference is I did marry a guy who cares about sports. Bummer for me. At least he isn't a freaky fan who can talk of nothing else or comes home early from work just to watch the BYU game (ok, he did that once).

You have now posted this similar subject enough times that I am wondering how not to take it personally as a sports fan. I look forward to having other ways that I am inferior to your husband pointed out to me in future blog posts.

PS March madness isn't even over yet. There are 3 more games to play. Two tonight and the championship game on Monday. Does that just blow your mind? (wait what, how can they play march madness games in april? that just doesn't make sense.)

Amen Girlfriend. However, Dave got really into the Jazz this year. I didn't really know what to do about it at first - but then I realized that the retro logo was back and it was a great opportunity to buy a cute Jazz T-shirt.
